FAQs for parents
Answers to the questions parents ask most often about the programme, the college and the cost.
Short version
BASLP is a four-year licensed clinical degree, awarded by Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow. Graduates work in hospitals, clinics, schools and the hearing-device industry. India has far more patients than practitioners, and Claverton’s intake is small.
The essentials
Four things to check before applying
Audiology and speech-language pathology are licensed professions. B.ASLP at Claverton is recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India, and the degree is awarded by Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow. Copies of the recognition letter and the affiliation order are available from the admissions office on request.
About 63 million Indians live with significant hearing impairment, a WHO estimate, and roughly ten thousand registered professionals treat them. Hospitals, clinics, schools and the hearing-device industry all hire this degree.
Clinical supervision is one to one from the second semester onwards. The college has no alumni yet, and does not claim any.
Fees in writing before any payment. Hostel, warden and safety details published before the session. Every approval on one page, with the documents, and a master’s in India or abroad afterwards if the student wants it.
Parents’ questions
Answered directly
If a question is not answered here, the admissions helpline takes calls during office hours.
My child has already spent a year somewhere else. Can they join the second year?
No. Claverton admits only into the first year and does not transfer credit from another college. A student who has studied elsewhere applies as a fresh applicant, on Class 12 board marks and an AHEE score, and is ranked with everyone else.
Is this a real, regulated profession — or a niche course?
Audiology and speech-language pathology are regulated clinical professions in India. Practice requires enrolment on the Central Rehabilitation Register maintained by the Rehabilitation Council of India, a statutory body under the RCI Act, 1992. A graduate cannot practise without it.
The college is new. Who checks what is taught?
Two external bodies, both statutory. The curriculum follows the Rehabilitation Council of India’s framework for BASLP, and the Council recognises the programme. The degree is awarded and examined by Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, which sets the question papers and the pass standard. Neither body is controlled by the college. Both are named on the Approvals page, with the documents.
Will my child find work?
India has roughly 63 million people with significant hearing impairment (a WHO estimate) and only about ten thousand registered audiologists and speech-language pathologists. Around seventy institutions teach the degree, producing roughly two thousand graduates a year. Hospitals, clinics, schools, hearing-aid and implant companies, and government screening programmes all hire them, and U.S. News & World Report ranks speech-language pathology among the best healthcare jobs in America. Claverton runs career preparation from the first semester and will publish its own outcomes once its students graduate.
What does the degree actually lead to?
Clinical roles in hospitals and ENT departments, hearing-care and speech clinics, cochlear implant centres, special schools, early-intervention centres, the hearing-technology industry, research and academia, and independent private practice.
How long is the course, and what happens in the final year?
Four years across eight semesters — 160 credits under the National Credit Framework. Three years of coursework and clinical postings, then a ten-month supervised internship in the fourth year: 600 clinical hours in speech-language pathology and 600 in audiology. The Council also allows up to seven years from admission to complete the programme.
Can my child study further after this?
Yes. BASLP is the standard entry qualification for a master's in audiology or speech-language pathology in India, and for postgraduate study and clinical routes abroad, subject to each country's licensing requirements.
Where is the campus, and how do we get there?
Knowledge Park III in Greater Noida, part of the Delhi National Capital Region. The nearest metro is Knowledge Park II on the Aqua Line, about three kilometres away; central Delhi is roughly an hour by the expressway; Noida International Airport at Jewar is about thirty kilometres away. The office is open from 8 AM to 6 PM every day, and campus visits can be booked through the enquiry form.
Is the campus safe, and is accommodation available?
The campus and the college clinic are step-free and disability-access friendly. There are separate boys’ and girls’ hostels on campus, with meals included in the charge: from ₹1,30,000 a year for a double room without air-conditioning to ₹2,90,000–₹3,50,000 for a single air-conditioned room, payable in two half-yearly instalments. Hostel capacity, the warden and the security arrangements are published before the session begins.
What will it cost?
The college fee is ₹1,50,000 per semester: ₹3,00,000 an academic year, and ₹12,00,000 across the four-year programme. That is the whole college fee, not a tuition line with extras stacked on top. It carries library access, the college e-books, the online learning resources and the extra courses the college runs. Hostel is charged separately and includes meals. A refundable caution deposit of ₹15,000 is taken once at enrolment and returned when the programme is completed. The schedule is confirmed in writing before any payment is due.
How much individual attention will my child get?
The 2027 intake is small. Clinical training is supervised one case at a time, and every teacher knows each student’s clinical work personally.
